Residents on along the Magherconluce Road Annahilt have contacted local Ulster Unionist MLA Robbie Butler regarding the daily disruption resulting from ongoing pipe laying by Phoenix gas.
Mr Butler commented. “Following a number of concerns raised by the public I conducted a site meeting on 25th with Senior Engineering officials from Phoenix Gas on the Magherconluce Road, in order to raise further concerns regarding the ongoing disruption caused by these works.
Firstly, in response to complaints that diversions around the works were not clear. I have been given assurances by Phoenix that they will endeavour to provide greater clarity around diversions.
Secondly, I was asked for improvements in the provision of the bus service. I can confirm that the bus pick up point on Pound Burn is to be relocated to Lakeland Road.
Finally, residents where concerned over local access and what efforts have been made to keep the road open during peak times such as school runs particularly in Glenview. Due to the scale of works, it is difficult to keep the road open at all times, however at my insistence Phoenix Gas have agreed that the site supervisor will be clearly identifiable and on hand to facilitate local residents with access.
Whilst I appreciate the considerable agitation these works have caused I trust that clarification over these points will help alleviate the disruption. In addition, I have been given assurances by that Phoenix that the ongoing works is due to be completed by early December.”
